Windhoeker Maschinen Fabriek corporate strategy 2020 – 2025 sets out a strategy to reposition the company to become a leading company in the provision of metal fabrication products, services and technical servicing of vehicles and equipment. The overall strategic planning process included an analysis of the macro and micro environment, including an in-depth analysis of the company’s capabilities. A market analysis as well as key stakeholder analysis was carried out. Key strategic drivers and constraints were identified.
The environmental scanning and “as is” analysis revealed that WMF is technically insolvent and requires a turnaround strategy and a capital injection in order to restore operations and build a strong foundation for recovery. Central to strengthening the balance sheet of WMF is the decision that will need to be taken by August 26 Holdings to write off the N$32.7 Million debt that has accrued .This would be a strategic move meant to reduce the degree of WMF indebtedness which will make their balance sheet better. The macro analysis revealed a depressed economy that is currently in recession.
